Got a flustered email from some one I manage a site for. It had been nuked - not happy

In all fairness the cms could have done with some patching but what really gets me is that the guy simply put an index page with anti-invasion of gaza stuff, which is even more annoying as I'm with the guy on that one. But aswell as putting an index page he nuke the entirety of remaining site. Not a happy bunny

So I decided to have a poke around in the logs and get an IP and hopefully a name or email or address.

All went well and I found the ip and his isp and also some other fun stuff like that he came from this site on the way to mine.. httpx://www.hack4pro.com/vb/showthread. ... 12&page=6x go figure some hack noob reading a guide while doing it. Arrr even more ashamed at this stage! (inserted 2 x's in link as not a nice place to be associated with by bots)

Have contacted isp for details about the ip address user so do you recon they will get back to me?

I've had this problem once, who are you hosting with. Fasthosts sorted mine out with a full back and new server/address with revised security. But and there is always a but, they would not release the ip's or any details to me for some reason. Was that joomla fully update to date, that is the main problem I have with all my MODx sites, just keeping them all updated.

eh?

I think you'd be lucky for the ISP to release anything. You'd probably have to have the cops do it, but are they going to? Not unless you have a lawyer and an approx. value for lost work etc. and then file charges against the person.
