Right guys, thinking of upgrading the current lowly 8600GT to something more modern but am not sure what cards are currently good as I have been out of the loop completely for some time. The current crop of cards gets a bit confusing with their naming and what have you. I am after a card from nVidia, moneywise something in the region of £150-£200 including VAT, £200 would be a stretch but I'd pay if it was worth it, realistically limit would be say £180. I would like the lifetime warranty if possible.

CPU: Q6600 2.4
Mobo: GA-P31-S3L
Memory: 2GB (2x1GB modules)
600-650W PSU
Main HDD: 160GB to be upgraded too
other HDDs
DVDRW

If you insist on Nvidia, the GTX 275 is the only card in your price range starting at £160.

I'd break from tradition and go with an ATI Card If it where up to me. Why are you not considering ati?

I've had trouble with both, I think there is a difference in manufacturers, and how you install drivers.
That 7900 Nvidia thing i had was a nightmare. Made me wish for my good old ATi 9800 pro.

I would take a punt and go with an ati card, as said you can have trouble with both at times. But the current batch of ATI cards are very nice. imo
