I'm setting up a WC rig soon and for the leak test I built this from a few parts in my junk box.

Image

Its a 230v AC to 12v DC Brick directly wired to a 4-pin connector with a switch between on the 12v wire for turning off and on without unplugging. It can supply 20W which is enough for the pump I'm using. It could power pretty much any 12v device off the mains, fans, cold cathodes etc.

Not amazing stuff but just a suggestion for anyone else with a WC system doing a leak test without needing to install a PSU.

Or for running a few fans when it gets toasty over the summer.

I'm guessing it costs £10 for one of these.

The full PSUs are way too clumsy.
This kit has the 230v parts way outside of water spillage zones, I'm less likely to get fried.

Not a bad idea actually. Do it so its an inline slide switch and unexposed cables upto the molex to keep it nice and neat and jobs a goodun. 8)

you guessed my plan :D

well part of it, the inline switch that is :)

tbh, i'm suprised some of the more mod'y type online stores don't do something similar, theres definately a market for them
