The black stuff is a rubber moulding/beading,the product below is apperently easier.

Do not use a dremel to etch your window, it'll look balls unless you're the next Van Gogh. :)

i suppose it depends how steady your hand is; i'm just thinking it's easier and likely to look neater if you get the etch made for you or get a stick/iron on one.

nope, i used an etching tool (will have to take a pic, but its basically pen sized, with a curved pointy metal blade/end)

template - http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v485/ ... C01936.jpg

etched - http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v485/ ... C01940.jpg

didn't look too bad, but it's nothing like perfect

that was done with some 5mm stuff, although the thickness that you'll get with manufacturer fitted windows will be a lot less, think my eclipse has like 2mm

the etching tool i stole off my sister :P

when i was cutting windows i used a random kigsaw with random blade and it worked like a charm. a dremel is more accurate but it'll take a lot longer

I'd suggest a jigsaw followed by a dremel to tidy up. When I drilled a hole in the top of my case I started with a 3/4" drill bit then widened the hole with a filing drill bit and finished off with the dremel. Turned out perfectly.

whenever i've cut fan holes or window holes i've used a jigsaw

only time i've really used a dremel is for cutting plastics, just tend to find that the dremel snatches quite a bit when cutting metal, and it will take ages to cut out the kind of hole you'll be wanting for a window

i'd go for the jigsaw, and then a file, or dremel just to tidy up the edges
