It'll take either in all 4 slots? Not like 2 slots are DDr2 compatible only and the other 2 DDR3?
Any performance hit for this compatibility that we know of?

It won't take em in the same slots, the pin layout is different for DDR2 and DDR3 (although they both have the same number of pins).

And not that we know of.

Oh right. cheers.

very welcome.

Found a screenshot of DDR3 at 1500Mhz CAS4... nice :)

Image

For those with doubts about DDR3 latencies, thats a CAS latency of 5.3ns and is equivalent to running DDR at 375Mhz with CAS 2, or running DDR2 at 566Mhz with CAS 3, neither of which is currently possible so far as I know.

2GHz memory, or 1900MHz @ 7-7-7! Holy crap.

http://www.anandtech.com/memory/showdoc.aspx?i=3053&p=5

so DDR3 could run 1:1 with processor speed...

Soon everything will be running at the same speed on the motherboard. It is definitely heading towards a multi-processor environment, if you can get info to the CPU faster than it can process, what is the point?

*I started a new thread and deleted, just in case anyone is confused...
